For an in-depth look at the history of the First World War, we recommend a visit to one of the famous battlefields of the Vosges Mountains.
The particular topography of is area, in the middle of the mountains, and the old fortified German trenches maintained in their original state, allow us to appreciate the inequality of the forces involved and the courage required by the French soldiers of the time to attack the enemy. Visitors are taken on a journey back in time as they walk through the trenches of these beautifully preserved sites, also known as the "hunters' tomb" and "man-eating mountain".
Museums complete the visit, which can be accompanied by a guide.
A hike in the Vosges or a visit to the city of Colmar on the way back can be combined with this tour for a full day programme.
